Hutchys Wood Creations specializes in highly detailed furniture art and home décor – we are a custom shop creating new and fantastical wooden pieces. We are passionate about making and know that what we make is a reflection of who we are. Quality is at the top. Being playful and creative is what keeps us coming back day after day.

-My Story

I am Mark Hutchinson.  To my really close friends, I am ‘Hutchy’.  I am a dad to 3 amazing kids and my wife and I live and play in Richland, WA (Tri-Cities).

I started my woodworking journey in 2018 when I was gifted an old family end table. “The top was cracked and broken so I had to make a new one. I went down to the local wood supply and bought this piece of Canarywood – Had never heard of that type of wood before but it was pretty wild! I wanted to take it up a notch and add a custom stencil – staining it on the top. It turned out better than imagined and I knew I’d found something special.”

I have spent my career in mechanical design and manufacturing and have been told I am a natural problem solver.  I like to test things out first, starting with materials, finishes & stains, and even techniques before I apply them in practice.   I guess I take an organized approach to learning a new technique and sometimes there are a few rough drafts along the way.

Outside of Woodworking my family and I enjoy the outdoors, and spending time together having fun.
